Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song

Here is this song... I have chosen this song because it's a style that must of you will like......

IT'S CALM... AND IT'S POWER METAL!

This genre has a lot of fantasy and imagination in its lyrics, so you can imagine another world... it's so good. As you'll see... metal isn't always so strong and brutal as you probably think... =P

Now you all know / Ara tots coneixeu
The bards and their songs /
Els bards i les seves cançons
When hours have gone by /
Quan les hores hagin passat
I'll close my eyes /
Jo tencaré els meus ulls
In a world far away /
En un món llunyà
We may meet again /
Potser ens retrobarem
But now hear my song /
Però ara escolta la meva cançó
About the dawn of the night /
Sobre el començar de la nit
Let's sing the bards' song /
Cantem la cançó dels bards

Tomorrow will take us away /
El demà se’ns emportarà
Far from home /
Lluny de casa
No one will ever know our names /
Ningú sabrà mai els nostre noms
But the bards' songs will remain /
Però les cancons dels bards permandran
Tomorrow will take it away /
El demà s’ho emportarà
The fear of today /
La por d’avui
It will be gone /
Se n’anirà
Due to our magic songs /
A causa de les postres cançons màgiques

There's only one song /
Només hi ha una cançó
Left in my mind /
Que queda a la meva ment
Tales of a brave man /
Contes sobre un home valent
Who lived far from here /
Que va viure lluny d’aquí
Now the bard songs are over /
Ara les cançons dels bards s’han acabat
And it's time to leave /
I és temps de marxar
No one should ask you for the name /
Ningú t’ha de preguntar pel nom
Of the one /
De la persona
Who tells the story /
Que explica la història

Tomorrow will take us away /
El demà se’ns emportarà
Far from home /
Lluny de casa
No one will ever know our names /
Ningú sabrà mai els nostre noms
But the bards' songs will remain /
Però les cancons dels bards permandran
Tomorrow all will be known /
Demà tot es sabrà
And you're not alone /
I vosaltres no esteu sols
So don't be afraid /
Doncs no us espanteu
In the dark and cold /
En la foscor i en el fred
'Cause the bards' songs will remain /
Perquè les cançons bardes permandran
They all will remain /
Totes elles permandran

In my thoughts and in my dreams /
En els meus pensaments i en els meus somnis
They're always in my mind /
Elles sempre estan a la meva ment
These songs of hobbits, dwarves and men /
Aquelles cançons de hobbits, nans i homes
And elves /
I elfs
Come close your eyes /
Vine i tanca els teus ulls
You can see them too... /
Tu també els pots veure...

PD: Thanks BG, for making my days a little more happier with those tales and stories :)

Ricard & Blanes

Ricard is my boyfriend. He is 20 years old and he lives in Blanes. He has long and brown hair, almond-brown eyes, straight nose, and he's 1,75m. He usually goes to the gym, and that makes him more attractive! ^^

He's someone that I wouldn't like to lose anyway, because he makes me real happy, and his character fits really good with mine: he's so romantic, attentive, affectionate and so active and powerful! It's so difficult to find persons in life that are really important and you know they would never decieve you =).

I knew him in a concert of Manowar, a group of heavy metal in September 2010 in Barcelona. We met there, but then I was in a relationship with another boy and he was also in a relationship with another girl, so we began a good friendship.

Then, this October 2011 we return talking with messenger, after a year, and we knew eachother more and more. We decided to see us again the 5th of November in Girona, because he lives so far away from here and this city was in the middle of our distance. There, we fall in love and we began the relationship. (so fast.....?!) yes, so fast. XD

Specifically there's 1 hour and 15 minutes between Blanes and St. Pere Pescador with car, but I usually go there by train, but my parents have to take me to Figueras, then with the train to Sils, and there Richi is always waiting for me ;3.

Blanes is a very beautiful place to visit, and we always go walking through the city and the forests there are around. ^^

I love him so much (hope we remain together for a lot of time...!) and when I'm down for something, he always knows how to make me smile and return me to happiness... (L) =).

LONDON '11 (05, 06, 07.12)

London is a destination I always wanted to go and I was so excited to go there, specially because there's a lot of metal culture and there's Camden...! A big market in London where you can find everything you want.

After two days in Paris, 3rd and 4th of December, the 5th we catched the train destination London. We passed through a tunnel under the sea, but all I could saw was blackness XD. When we arrived there, we went to catch the underground. A incredible stress out there! So many people walking (better say running) going around and around... wow. We went for a walk on Russel Square, and then we went to our hotel to rest.

The next day, 6th of December, we did a lot of things: first, we went to Hyde Park, Royal Parks and Queen's Palace. It was so incredible to see and so beautiful, and there were little squirrels everywhere!

Then, we went to see Big Bang... wow... that was really powerful to see how tall is it. I didn't imagine before see it that it would be so big! Also, we went into the London eye and we could see most of the part of the giant city. At the afternoon, we went to London's Film Museum. It was very interesting to visit, some of the best museums I've ever been ^^. At the evening, we went to Tower Bridge, it was surprising to see the dimension of the building!

Next day morning we went to Camden. So much things to buy and to see!! ^^ I bought so many things there, specially I love my corset and my new shiny Dr. Martens. Also, we entered at Madame Tussaud's: funny because I met Mourinho, emotive because I met Freddy Mercury and also scaring... I met Hitler, and his look was so penetrating...

London is a good place to visit, but I think that if I have to choose, I would prefer Paris or Antwerpen, there isn't too much stress and you can catch the underground calmly. The food was not so good, but I knew it before going there =P. Also, I didn't expect that in London I would see such a lot of immigration, it has surprised me. Anyway, London is somewhere you have to see, one time in your life minimum ;).

PARIS '11 (03, 04, 08.12)

First of all, France has always had a bad impression for me, because most of the french people that I had met we didn't make a very good friendship.

The 3rd of December we catched AVE in Figueres - Vilafant. Very comfortable travel and very fast!! I was in Paris in only 6 - 7 hours aproximadetly. When we first arrived to Paris, I realized that I would pass a good moment and a good experience, but I wasn't expecting so much about Paris and France in general.

In Paris, we went everywhere with the underground. Very good and economic if you're 4 or 5 persons ^^. The 4th of December, we went to Tower Eiffel and the Catacombs... so incredible!! How many bones are there... you couldn't imagine even if you try. Thirty minutes walking down in passages round and round, and it wasn't ending! Also, we went for a walk through the Sena's river.

The 8 of December, returning from London and England, we stopped again in Paris. We went to Montmartre then, to see the artists painting on the street. ^^

I got surprised. Paris is so beautiful and comfortable... People there are so kind and pleasant, I felt a little like in my home. Very good food and attention everywhere I've gone. So agreeable and cheerful! Recomend everyone to go to Paris, and when I grow older, I want to buy there a house... I think it's so exciting.

Is internet making the world a better place?

Internet is an incredible invention. So many people use it. Try to think about how the world has changed for it: our way of talking eachother, all the people you know have used internet for sure.

On the one hand we can find a lot of advantages in the internet world. You can communicate so much better than some years ago, we can have a better education, complementing the theory with videos on youtube or powerpoints in our presentations and classes. You can also make friends and play on-line with people around the world.

On the other hand, we see that internet has become a trap of pornography, moreover if you are a good hacker, an easy way to be a thief of personal and private information. You must control what you put on the internet because most of the times it's public and you could not know it.

Summering, I cam secure that consequently my life is very influenced positively by the internet: I can see and talk easily with my friends and boyfriend, take information so fast and comfortably, etc. Always, obviously, securing what I'm letting people see about me, of course. Like me, all the world is being condicionated about the internet, making a paralel world around us that helps people to do most of the ordinary things in their lifes.

MY ORAL PRESENTATION... 2nd term: MY RESEARCH PROJECT

PRESENTATION:

Hello everyone, now I’m going to talk about my research project: Bee-eaters at Fluvià’s River.

WHY THIS THEME?

First of all, I knew that it was going to be more practic than a teoric one. I chose the bee-eaters because I’ve been a naturalist and birdlover since I was little. Also because this birds are bright and colorful, and in every guide of birds I found that it was so easy to see them in liberty, and I only saw them one or two times.

I was interested in extracting conclusions by my own notes and observations of these birds in a delimated land of Fluvià’s river, knowing their ethology and habits.

MY OBJECTIVES:

My objectives, at the beggining of the project, were:

On one hand, to know the ethology and the systematic of this specie, on the other hand, to know and study the colonies of bee-eaters in an area of Fluvià’s river, and finally contrast and relate my conclusions and observations with the preavious searched theory.

METHODOLOGY:

This project is based in my own observations done between May and September this year 2011 and the subsequent conclusions about these birds, that are really mine and scientific.

THE BEE-EATERS:

Let’s go talk about these animals. They’re gregarious birds, it means that they are sociable and they go all together. They are very eye-catching because of their colours. Moreover, they’re exclusively insectivorous and migratory. They stay for the autumn and winter in Africa. In May and June they come at south-Europe, and in September they return to Africa again. They populate all the Iberic peninsula, excepting the territories with high height.

They perfore they own nests in the slopes made by the rivers, or indirectly humans creating new roads and tracks. They’re always horizontal, and at the end of the tunel it is a chamber with the eggs, that can be between four and seven. A curiosity is that they can remove 13 kilos of land.

I’ve studied mainly two areas: la Gravera de Valveralla and la Pista de motocròs de Ventalló. I’ve noticed that they’re more nests near Sant Pere Pescador, where I live, but they’re not occupied or there are other animals. Finally, I’ve counted 150 individuals of bee-eaters with the two colonies.

DIFFERENCIATION BETWEEN MALES, FEMALES AND LITTLE BEE-EATERS:

This is a task that is so difficult, so most of the times I had to resort to the photos I took everyday. If we wanted to know how much of them were there exactly, I would need some speccialists, and I couldn’t do it.

PRACTICAL CONCLUSIONS:

Now I’ll explain some of my personal conclusions that I think they’re important:

They prefer zones where humans don’t interfere in, but this presence is not a letal condicion of their living. They only need slopes to perfore, nearly water current, and insects abundance. They adapt very good to human activity or presence.

It’s necessary a lot of insects to feed them and their chicks, specially when they grow up, so the water needs to be very clean.

The bee-eaters have aproximately six chicks for one pair of them. This triple the first population. They have a great reproduction, so it’s a good indicative of their health and environment.

They usually stay in dead trees or somewhere a little higher where they can locate their insects to eat, that’s very essencial.

Their diet is based in dragonflies in 70%, because they are very near the river, where they abound. In bees in 20%, and the 10% that rests are other types of insects, like beetles and beautiflies.

FINAL CONCLUSIONS:

In my opinion, this project is important because it gives information about our environment and these incredible birds, and also it encourages people to be more respectful with them.

Moreover, I’ve reached my objectives: now, I know a lot about the behavior of the bee-eaters, especially and exclusively in Fluvià’s river, and I’ve could compare it with my theory. There’s a thing that I will do, because I think that is important: I’ll continue my research of these birds, complementing this season with another one in 2012.

I’ve dedicated a lot of days and hours to the observation of these birds, to the practical work, watching their behavior and extracting solid conclusions about their life and habits. Now, I’m more respectful with nature, because I’ve seen all the wild life that we have around us that I ignored before.

Anyway, it has been a very useful and interesting work to do, specially the practical part of the project. I think that documenting and giving new information about the bee-eaters of Fluvià’s river (that surely haven’t been studied before) is what has given me more gratification.

This is all, very thanks for your attention. If you have any questions, I’ll answer them, thank you.

--------------------------------------------------------

I've uploaded the powerpoint of the presentation because I couldn't do it with the video. I've had to remove some photos of the presentation because it was too big to upload it at the web... anyway, it's here!! Hope you like it! ;)

I think that my presentation has been so good, a little nervous, like I've always been when I'm in front of people talking, but in my opinion, my note is a 9. ^^

NEWS!! NASA discovers that dunes in Mart have movement!

The dunes on Mars are more dynamic than we previously believed and they can move up to several meters, as a group of scientists said through the images of NASA MRO.

"We used to think that the sand on Mars is relatively immobile, so these new observations are changing our perspective," said Nathan Bridges, planetary scientist at the Physics Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University in Laurel, Maryland.

According to Bridges, "Or Mars have faster and more powerful winds, or the winds can carry more sand."

The atmosphere of Mars is very thin (about 1% that of Earth), so you need much stronger winds to move a grain of sand.

You need 130 kilometers per hour winds to move the small particles of Mart. On Earth they would move with winds around 16 mph.

The dunes where movement isn't seen suggests that it may be bigger sand grains or more adhesioned to the surface layers.
